Women In Focus: WIF/DAS Artist Choice Exhibit & Photo Walk

Digital Arts Studio

Featuring work by: Various Artists

This is a Artist Choice Exhibit sponsored by Digital Arts Studio.

Women In Focus is a non-profit artist-initiated organization of women photographers who have joined together to support and promote the photographic arts.

Women In Focus values each individual member for the unique contributions that she brings to the organization and strives to provide all members with the resources that they need to thrive as artists. Women In Focus is dedicated to facilitating a forum for open dialogue regarding photography in all of its forms.

Educational programs address both technical proficiency and scholarship by incorporating lectures, workshops, and critiques and by covering topics relating to the history and business of photography as well as the creation of images. Women In Focus engages in community activity by hosting events all around Atlanta. The scope of the group's activities is further extended past the geographical area of its home base through an Internet presence and joint projects with women photographers around the world.

120 acres of hardwood trees and trails. A creek runs through the park with small water falls and a lakein the middle
fishing, hiking, bird watching, trail running or walking, wild flowers, wildlife and a historic site..

Join us for a naturalist and photography walk at Roswell's Leita Thompson Park. Leita Thompson (1884-1978) was one of the first female banking executives in the US. As a teenager she was a suffragette and became a strong supporter of working women at time when women were discouraged from professional careers. She left her 107-acre forested retreat, later her home, to the City of Roswell dedicated as a park. The 2-mile loop trail includes hardwood forests, a stream with minor falls and a lake.

Gittel Price, President of Women in Focus photography club, helps host our walk in one of her favorite walking and nature photography locations. Naturalist and photographer Kathryn Kolb (Eco-A) shares information on the forest ecology, trees and other species, and how we can learn much by seeing with our artist's eye.
